    Do I need yoga experience?

We welcome yogis of all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced practioners. Yoga retreats are not just for the yogi who practices every day and can touch the floor with their elbows. Regardless, we suggest keeping an open mind and trying out practices that might be new to you.

Do I need to book my own flight to Nicaragua? What flights do I purchase?

You are responsible for booking your own plane flight. Here is the arrival and departure information:

Where is the retreat center located and how do I get there from the airport?

Maderas Village is located just north of San Juan del Sur, overlooking Playa Maderas. Airport transfer is not included because everyone tends to arrive at different times, but usually there are two or three others that will want to share one and we always help arrange it! Just let us know your flight details and we can take it from there. One way transportation is $140 for 4 people, $120 for 3 people, and $100 for 1-2 people.

What is the currency in Nicaragua? Will I need cash?

Current currency in Nicaragua is the Nicaraguan Córdoba. All of the activities highlighted on the trip page are included in the price. However, if you have some free time to explore on your own or choose to go on any optional excursions, you will be responsible for the costs but we can definitely help you arrange anything. USD can be used for most activities and at most restaurants in town.

Can I arrive early to the retreat and stay late?

You will need to purchase your flights in order to arrive/depart by given dates and time ranges for your specific trip. If you choose to arrive earlier or later than given day/time you will be responsible for the cost of transportation needed to join up with the group. If you choose to stay longer you will be responsible for all costs after the day of the group departure.

Depending on your arrival time you may arrive the night before the start date of the trip. If this is the case we are not able to cover the costs of accommodation, but we are happy to help you with your planning. If you would like to stay at our last resort longer please contact us so that we can help you arrange this. Because we know these areas so well, we are also happy to help you plan your trip if you decide to stay longer or come early.

Is travel insurance mandatory for this yoga retreat? How do I purchase it?

Travel insurance for all of our international yoga retreats is mandatory. Unfortunately we cannot allow participation unless proof of travel insurance is sent to us before. Purchase your travel insurance within a week of purchasing your plane flight.

We highly recommend that you add “cancel for any reason” to your policy. Although normal trip cancellation will cover you for illness or injury, or for a travel companions illness, injury or death, it is limited to these. With “cancel for any reason” you will receive a percentage (usually 75%-100%) of all pre-paid costs. With this coverage if something comes up, a wedding, a new job opportunity, etc. or if YOGASCAPES has to cancel due to weather, staff injury or illness or other unforeseen reasons, you will be covered. *This option needs to be purchased within 15 days of your trip deposit.

We suggest this policy from Travel Guard or similar:

Travel Guard – Gold(Protect Assist) w/ Cancel for any reason http://www.travelguard.com/

For more information please contact the Insurance provider you are looking to purchase with or contact us

What are the different rooming options?

Dorm – There are 5 beds in each dorm and we will most likely have 1 all female dorm and 1 coed dorm. There is a shared bathroom and the dorm is located closer to the common area so it can be a bit noisier.

Shared Room – In a shared room, if you come with a friend or a partner you will have a private room for 2. If you are coming solo you will be in a room of 2 or 3 people. The shared rooms are a bit nicer and quieter than the dorm rooms.

Premium Rooms – Most premium rooms are in the Casitas which are stand alone units in the quietest part of the village. They are the newest units and can be described as comfortable, cozy, airy and well designed. There is also a premium room with a King bed that is in the back of one of the big Casas with a private bath.

Private Rooms are for 1 persona and you can choose between a standard private or a premium private.
